Helping families say goodbye
After more than 18 years taking guests out on and around the River Medway, we now specialise solely in short trips to scatter the ashes of loved ones.
Over the years we’ve built a reputation for looking after bereaved families and friends with real care, from the first phone call to the moment you step back ashore. We’ve welcomed families from all over the country and abroad, of many faiths and traditions, and we always do our best to make sure everything is done in the way that matters to you.
Simple, calm and unhurried
1. Give us a call
Talk to Bob or Jane about your plans, your family’s customs and any questions at all. There’s nothing you need to know in advance.
2. Plan the day
Choose a date and time that suits you. Bring music or prayers, flowers or petals, and let us know if family will be watching from the shore.
3. On the river
We’ll meet you at the marina and take you out onto the Medway. The scattering itself usually takes around an hour, at a pace that feels right.
£400 for a standard one-hour scattering
For up to 10 guests on board, including a priest or celebrant if you’d like one. Supplements apply for longer trips. We don’t take card payments; please pay by cheque, cash or bank transfer, and we’ll send details when you book.

As a family, we are so grateful to have found Bob and Jane to help us carry out the last wishes of my Father. From start to finish communication was handled so professionally, but more so, personably by both Jane and Bob. With so much experience, any questions we had were quickly answered. I rang Jane one morning and she talked me through the whole thing, offered up lots of advice and tips to help with everything.
On the day of our ashes ceremony, we were met at the gates by Jane and she took great care of us. Jane even went so far as to kindly offer to help prepare our water urn. Listen to Jane… she knows her stuff. Forget all you read about different types of urns online or wherever, Jane will be able to tell you exactly how things work and give you some important advice on which to go with.
“Song and Dance” is a cracking vessel, in really great condition. Very comfortable and very high class. Skipper Bob and Admiral Jane really looked after my family. Honestly after 5 minutes of meeting them they felt like an extension of the family. Jane was a very sympathetic and caring hostess to us and took wonderful care of everyone, especially my mum. Skipper Bob was just as great, allowing the kids to sit up top and teaching them all about piloting a vessel, the workings of radar, explaining how the flood gates worked… all sorts.
This sounds like a strange thing to say, but my whole family came away from this experience really happy. A day which was full of nerves, emotion and potential sadness, was turned into an enjoyable positive experience we will cherish and look back on fondly, and this was in no short part down to our hosts Bob and Jane. Thank you SO much. I would highly recommend.

Dad was a Hindu and it was important that his ashes should be scattered into water. Jane and Robert were kind, clear and professional in their communications with me and in offering support as I planned how and where we would scatter my dad’s ashes.
On the actual day, they were helpful and provided guidance when needed/asked for. They had a ‘light’ presence and felt supportive without any sense of intrusion into such an important event for my family. I cannot recommend Jane and Robert’s service enough.
We, the family, can’t thank you enough. It was a faultless day for our mother. All I can say is that you will be highly recommended within our community and friends. Especially thank you for your warmth and compassion.
