We operate bespoke trips on the Medway and around South East England for groups of up to 10 people on board our stunning flybridge Rodman Muse 44, now concentrating and specialising in short bookings to scatter loved-ones' ashes. We have acquired a reputation for giving superb care before, during and after scatterings. The tidal Medway is a really excellent place for the ceremonies, with the river joining the sea only about 7 miles or so downstream.
We are a husband and wife team and operate our luxurious flybridge motor yacht from Chatham Maritime Marina, and are fully licensed under MCA rules to carry up to 10 passengers. In younger days, Jane was a nurse and health visitor, and Bob was a solicitor, but we've both adapted to the maritime life and thoroughly enjoy helping families say their last good-byes to their loved-ones and friends. Whilst we've now done 100s of scatterings, we aim to make the experience on board as personal as possible. You can bring favourite music or prayers on your phones and we'll connect them to the boat's sound system, and anything which is readily biodegradable can go into the river with the ashes
We do have a very few gound rules, which we'll discuss with you on enquiry, but there's nothing to worry about in that respect. It's all common sense really.
We don't have set times for our operations, but will always do our best to fit in with your plans.
Our fee is £380 per hour. Supplements may apply for long trips.

Our capacity is 10 guests on board per scattering. This is an absolute maximum an includes a priest should you wish to have one on board. Please do not ask us to exceed this number as it is embarrassing to have to say “no”.
Our fee for the standard 1 hour trip/scattering is £380
If you have more than 10 people who would like to see what is going on, we can take the boat to a point close to a viewing area from where those on the shore can watch is going on. If we know that you’d like to use this facility, we will do our best to arrange the time to be close to high tide, so that we can get very close into the shore. We will provide full details of how to get to the viewing area when you have booked. It is a five minute drive, or 15 / 20 minute walk from the marina.
If it looks as though the weather may be very poor for your booked day, we will contact you a day or so beforehand to discuss options. We are able to go onto the river in just about all weather, but very occasionally strong winds prevent this.

In early January 2022, a few family members boarded the boat [at Chatham] on the River Medway to scatter the ashes of our Grandmother. The scattering of ashes was able to be witnessed by a larger family group who were able to watch from the riverside viewing platform.
I cannot praise this service highly enough, special thanks to Jane and Robert; we felt in good hands from the moment we first called. The boat is very clean and modern. The service with very peaceful and solemn. This was the most fitting and beautiful farewell.
I would highly recommend to my family and friends, there’s no better place to go for this service.

Last month we scattered our Mother’s Ashes on the River Medway. This was the first death in our family and we really did not know what to expect. After my initial call with Bob, it was clear we would be in good hands, and he gave me the advice we needed. On the day we were greeted by Jane at the entrance to the marina, she was so warm and caring that it felt like we had known her for years just after a few moments. Both Jane and Bob were very knowledgeable about our faith system and guided us through the whole process.
I had concerns about how I would lower the urn, how and what you should do etc, Jane knew exactly how to do it and gently guided me through the process. The platform on the back of the boat was ideal and also the safety features.
Thanks to Bob, Jane, and their Boat, the whole process of scattering our Mother’s Ashes was done with so much love and peace.
My family and I chartered ‘Song and Dance’ on 13th of June 2021 in memory of my late sister to scatter her ashes on River Medway. We would like to thank both Bob and Jane for the par excellence service they provided us with. We really appreciate your thoughtfulness and professionalism and your dedication, especially taking care of my mum in a wheelchair. Fred Moffitt - cruise on 18th July 2015 Well what can I say, couldn't have been a better day for my Dads 80th birthday treat, we had 10 people on board and everybody had a really good time, we could use the boat as we wished and Bob and Jane were there for us at all times, without being in our way (how do you do that?) I cannot fault the experience and will recommend you to everyone. As for seeing dolphins and seals in the Thames I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it!
Due to the nature of this trip the organisation was very detailed and although I told Bob and Jane my requirements, they did all the organising themselves which involved much correspondence and time. Cannot praise them enough on this, thank you so much.

They were very kind, respectful and understanding of our loss. I would highly recommend this service to anyone thinking of scattering their loved ones ashes into the river.
I did not really have time to grieve for my mother since I had to worry about organising her funeral and by using this service it allowed me to have the opportunity to say goodbye to her properly.

Our families included well behaved but young children (including a newborn!) and they were "in awe" of the boat and the experience and still chat about it! Safety was paramount which was reassuring. Our reasons for the charter were in memory of our Dad who passed and a similar service to scattering of ashes was held. Bob & Jane were respectful, empathetic & professional throughout. We had a happy, emotional time and "Song & Dance" is a stunning vessel & its obvious Bob & Jane take great pride in this & I would hope all future guests on their boat show them the respect they deserve by adhering to a few of their appropriate rules.
